So PSN is still down

Yep.. This sucks some major ass, by hey. lets just hope it comes up soon.

I'm starting to miss playing online with my friends and messaging some of my online friends. I really hope Sony manages to fix it asap so i can get back to jamming online and having some fun by killing n00bs on Killzone.

Anyway, back to my hopes of game development. I found quite a few jobs here, and they all seem pretty decent, but one stands out. The team Luma Arcade(the company that brought the game Flipt to the iPhone and also the game Marble Blast) is a very successful company it seems. They are the ones who brought The Harvest to Windows Phone 7. The best part about it? They're a company situated in South Africa, a city not too far from where I live. I sent them an email to see if it was alright if i saw how the game development environment was and how it functions as a whole to make awesome games. So far my parents say i can go check what's up there, but I'm hoping when i'm done with my studies, to work there one day.

Here's the link to Luma Arcade's website. Be sure to check it out

I'll keep you posted about the reply email and if i can go.

A hope

Here's an update about last night. So i called my older brother about the situation and he talked me through it. Things went better with my folks. I think we just needed some time to think about it.

I spoke to my dad again about it and we decided that there's still a chance I can take it, but i just gotta do some more research on it and look at all the opportunities i can get.

So i still got a few months to decide and discuss it with my parents and hopefully i can convince them about my dream career.

(Just a note, i live in South Africa, so the game market isn't the biggest in the world, but it's still there.)

If you guys know about any places that are looking or know any info about game development in South Africa, please leave a comment and let me know.

I'll be sure to keep you posted

Nervousness

Sorry for not posting yesterday guys. I got home at 9 from school last night and did homework till about 11. Not the most fun I've ever had, but hey. I'll try to post everyday while i still got school going.

Anyway, today I was doing the final touches for my applications for university and what not, but there is a "tiny" problem I'm going to have. My parents are still under the impression I'm going to choose medicine if i get in for IT and medical. I've made up my mind, yes, but I haven't exactly told them. Now I'm minutes away from having maybe one of the most nerve wrecking discussions with my parents in my life. I have absolutely no idea what they'll say, if they approve or if they reject it. I know that my brothers (both in their 30's) had the same experience of being "forced" into medicine then changing their minds, that didn't end too well for them. Like overreactions from the parent's side, but it's really bad, but i won't go into detail.

So all I can basically do is just hope for the best and get it over with while I'm ahead.

Wish me luck guys
