Here's an update about last night. So i called my older brother about the situation and he talked me through it. Things went better with my folks. I think we just needed some time to think about it.
I spoke to my dad again about it and we decided that there's still a chance I can take it, but i just gotta do some more research on it and look at all the opportunities i can get.
So i still got a few months to decide and discuss it with my parents and hopefully i can convince them about my dream career.
(Just a note, i live in South Africa, so the game market isn't the biggest in the world, but it's still there.)
If you guys know about any places that are looking or know any info about game development in South Africa, please leave a comment and let me know.
I'll be sure to keep you posted

I got no idea but you have internet access, and that's all the research aid you need. Also, don't rule out moving to another country. It may save your dream career.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well. :x
ReplyDeletecool man
ReplyDeleteSorry, got no information, but best of luck to you!
ReplyDeletesorry can't help you with that, but good luck
ReplyDeleteWait, you can't do work for companies, like overseas? You would think nowadays with the global market, as long as you have the talent, they would consider you. Obv you have an internet connection, so look around for that? It's always an option to that, if you didn't care, they would fly you out to wherever they needed you.
ReplyDeleteWow didn't even know South Africa had game development stuff. Good luck with your search though, you just gotta keep at it.
ReplyDeletesorry don't know any

ReplyDeleteIt's sad to see parents shut down rather than approve of what their children want to do for the rest of THEIR life. :( Sorry man, hope your dad ends up seeing that this is what you want to do and approving of it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know game development was prevalent in South Africa. No reason not to be, I guess. good luck to you, really!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteHope it all works out for you!
ReplyDeleteit was better to tell them; instead of blamin them for ruining your life later down the road +1
ReplyDeleteGlad it worked out
ReplyDeleteGood luck. Try not to specialize so much in case things don't work out as you want.
