Update on the accounting

As I told you guys before, my peers and I wrote a nightmarish accounting test on Monday. Well... we finally got our test results, and they're amusing to say the least. When i saw my result i was actually surprised it was that high. Here's the thing, i got 37,5% where i normally get a solid 80%

I say it's amusing because when I heard what the class average for the test was, I broke out laughing for a good 5 minutes. Do prepare for laughter now: the class average was 26%. our class normally makes the low 70's for the class average, so this is just crazy.

Our teacher said that we wouldn't give us a new test, but he would make our assignment count for a lot more than it should to make up for the test. Now: i find this to be a little unfair, but fair at the same time.

What do you guys think? Do you think my teacher is justified or that he's just a tad lazy?

LaG on brothers.

  1. This is what the grading curve was invented for. Take the best score in the class (lets say it is a 50) and make it a 99, now add the same 49 points to everyone elses score, and you get the proper grade distribution to make up for the teacher giving what was apparently a retarded test.

  2. It sounds fair, he's doing something to work with you.

  3. Take it to the next in the chain of command, academic review board.

  4. I would be telling him that if the class fails as an entity, then the professor has clearly failed on some level of communicating that information. I know they don't think so, I work for them, but their job is to teach, so maybe they should actually do that sometimes.

  5. Wow, that's ridiculous. Who gives tests like that?

  6. I'm all for a little bit of a curve, but 50% is ridic. Maybe curve up to 75% for being purely average. I dont mind the curve, i always flub on tests a little, they make me nervous. I always do well though.

  7. It's pretty anoying to make another test, but yeah, finish the work, and get a sufficient grade. And you just reminded me that I got homework to do...

  8. haha, my teacher does that too. Guess it's to protect themselves as much as the students. If they wind up failing 90% of their class then they must not be a good teacher. or least that is how their superiors will think.

  10. SOunds like bullshit to me. They should scrap the results or grade on curve.

  11. Professors can be extremely frustrating. The golden rule with them is that they're always going to be right. Most professors in America allow one test (baring a midterm/final) to be omitted from your final grade, which has been a real lifesaver for me!
